With Venus, Mars, and Mercury All in Virgo, It’s Now Crucial To Be Detail-Oriented and Organized

As we commence the second week of August, we also begin our journey through late summer. Yes, we are at a critical turning point, when dusk begins to fall noticeably sooner than just a few weeks prior, and thankfully the new moon in Leo offers a pop of hope.

Leo is a fixed fire sign, and fixed signs always come in the middle of the season—something especially important to note right now, because Sunday brings Leo’s new moon, happening at 9:50 a.m., ET, at 16° of Leo. The fixed-fire new moon in the sign of the lion asks us to stake our claim to our emerging path. This new moon squares Uranus, the planet of disruption and change, and highlights the bigger themes of the year, which I refer to as the “battle between no longer and not yet.”

2021 is a wild card of a year. It forces us to separate from something familiar and have faith that what we need is coming, albeit, not at all in the package we imagined. Surely this new moon will challenge all of us to embrace the bravery we need to move in the direction of what’s emerging (and fresh), as opposed to gripping tightly to the past or our expectations of how things ought to be.

There’s no going back, only forward—and we're called to do so standing proud and tall, as Leo rules the upper back and heart. Staying resolute in self-trust and nimble in action is a prerequisite for thriving. Similarly, gripping to expectations remains contraindicated.

With the arrival of Mercury arrival in Virgo, we can expect to see the pendulum swing even further from carefree toward cautious and concerned.

Midweek, the planet of communication, Mercury, exits Leo and enters into Virgo. Venus and Mars are both in Virgo now, so even before the entrance of Mercury in Virgo, we certainly felt the emphasis on details and organization. However, with the arrival of Mercury in Virgo, we can expect to see the pendulum swing even further from carefree toward cautious and concerned.

It’s especially important to be precise in words and actions between August 11th and 30th, when Mercury travels in Virgo. However, if you find yourself becoming mired in the details, take a step back and remember the big picture, too.

When it comes to your spiritual, emotional, and physical health this week, remember that the intentions you set with the new moon have the potential to set you on a new upward trajectory. The astrological house that Leo rules in your chart is linked to where you are most meant to shine this lifetime. (To discover which house that is for you, run a free online natal chart here.) So regardless of your unique astrological makeup, this new moon is a potent moment to fan the flames of your glow up. Take advantage and set intentions early in the week.

Then, if you can, bring your focus back to your body and your digestion. This time of year heralds the beginning of harvest season, a time to celebrate the abundance of the earth! So tune into your gut and ask it what it wants or needs. Preparing your body to receive the wide array of nutrients available this time of year is advised. Drink plenty of water, take deep breaths, and enjoying the evening sun while it lasts.
