Michelle Obama Has the Most Genius (and Healthy) Idea for Girl Hangouts

Former FLOTUS Michelle Obama has been public about her love of SoulCycle and boxing—I mean, she's made wellness a national conversation since her time in the White House. But just because the badass fitness aficionado's no longer in the White House doesn't mean she's stopped caring about getting people to sweat.

In an Instagram post earlier today, Obama shows off yet another brilliant way she stays fit—by hosting boot-camp weekends with her girlfriends. Apparently it's something she did throughout her time as First Lady, and it's a tradition she's decided to carry on (because it's brilliant).

"Our boot-camp weekends were a reminder that if we want to keep taking care of others, we need to take care of ourselves first."

"It didn’t matter that we were all at varying fitness levels," Obama wrote in her caption about her sweat-filled weekend routine. "Our boot-camp weekends were a reminder that if we want to keep taking care of others, we need to take care of ourselves first." Preach.

She's still hosting these burpee-heavy hangouts because Obama firmly believes it's the best way to maintain a (literally) strong connection with her BFFs. Consider it a sweaty version of a women's circle.

"My girlfriends have been there for me through all kinds of life transitions over the years—including a pretty big one recently!—and we’ve done our best to stay healthy together," Obama adds. "Whether it’s a boot camp or a walk around the neighborhood, I hope you and your crew can find some time this summer to be healthy together." Between her workout and her husband's energizing playlist, just call them the exercisers-in-chief—White House or not, they're still doling out serious fitness inspiration.

If you're ready to sweat, here's a 15-minute low-impact boot camp you can do right now. And these are 10 things only boot campers understand.
