Mindbody Online Just Crashed Nationwide—so You Probably Can’t Book Your Go-to Fitness Class

In a crash heard and felt around the fitness world, Mindbody Online, a booking tool and website used by so many favorite boutique studios, is currently down nationwide.

Suspicions that things were amiss started this morning as I watched a number of my coworkers struggle to understand why they couldn't book their barre class or check on their yoga class waitlist status. Then Mindbody confirmed to me that there is an outage across the country, affecting studios and desperate workout warriors alike—and the company gave no word on when the platform would be up and running again.

"We are currently experiencing a system-wide outage that is impacting our software services, consumer apps, and business apps. We care deeply about the work that our customers do to help people in their communities. Our full engineering team is dedicated to resolving this issue and restoring service to our customers as quickly as possible." —Mindbody Online statement

"We are currently experiencing a system-wide outage that is impacting our software services, consumer apps, and business apps," Mindbody told me via email. "We care deeply about the work that our customers do to help people in their communities. Our full engineering team is dedicated to resolving this issue and restoring service to our customers as quickly as possible."

Basically, studios using the booking service—including national titans like Physique57, Exhale, Y7, CycleBar, and more—are unable to access any records or information on classes. You can't book a class, cancel a class, or check on your waitlist status. And, based on an email blast from one New York City Pure Barre franchise, it seems the studios aren't even able to see their own class rosters.

"You can't access any Pure Barre information and unfortunately, neither can we. When we last spoke with MindBody, they were unsure of when systems would resume normal operation. Unfortunately, this also means that we are unable to book or reschedule any classes during this time." —Pure Barre statement

"This means that you can't access any Pure Barre information and unfortunately, neither can we," Pure Barre noted in its an email statement. "When we last spoke with MindBody, they were unsure of when systems would resume normal operation. Unfortunately, this also means that we are unable to book or reschedule any classes during this time."

Well, holy HIIT: Here's hoping that Mindbody's engineers fix the problem stat. In the meantime, try these yogi-approved methods for staying calm in stressful situations.

Update April 5, 2018 at 6:13 p.m.

Mindbody Online services have been restored and CEO and co-founder Rick Stollmeyer reached out to me with the following statement:

"After a very difficult day, MINDBODY’s platform is being restored to full service levels. We know that system outages like this impact our customers and the wellness seekers they serve, and we deeply apologize for the inconvenience we caused today. The MINDBODY team takes our system reliability very seriously, and we invest tens of millions of dollars each year to prevent system interruptions like the one we had today. Nevertheless, our purpose is to connect the world to wellness and today we fell short. I promise we will learn from this event and do better. We will maintain our industry leading security standards and reestablish our high reliability record. Thank you to our customers, consumers and partners for choosing MINDBODY."
