New York Fitness Studios Celebrate Gay Pride Weekend With Workouts
A cluster of the city's top fitness studios are hosting Pride-themed classes starting today in support of the Gay Pride Weekend in New York City. And with the Supreme Court rulings against DOMA and Prop 8 this morning, there are lots of extra reasons to cardio celebrate. —Jamie McKillop
305 Fitness is hosting a "Boyz Night" this Friday with two free classes for the guys. Ladies can still attend, of course, and all are encouraged to wear rainbow colors.
Friday: 5:30 p.m. at Flatiron with Dija Griffith, 6:30 p.m. at Flatiron with Sadie Kurzban.
Get a Full Body workout with visiting LA instructor Stephen Williams, and each treadmill sprint will be a step towards equality, since all proceeds from the class will be donated to Human Rights Campaign.
Saturday: 3:00 p.m. at Chelsea with Stephen Williams.
Crunch is hosting a blowout celebration, opening its facilities to the public for free classes all weekend long and a live DJ. Plus, special Pride-themed classes with the gym's usual fun-and-hilarious flavor.
Friday: 7:15 p.m. Karaoke "Pride Ride."
9:00 a.m. "Pride Prom" 30-minute total-body workout.
2:00 p.m. "The Tops & Bottoms Workout" for chest and arms, and abs and butt, with special guest co-teacher renowned Drag Queen, Anne Chilada.
3:30 p.m. "ABSolutely Fabulous" with Mike Espinosa and Chilada.
Expect glow sticks, glitter, feather boas, rainbows and more at FlyBarre's Pride Classes.
Saturday: 10:45 a.m. at East Hampton with Bryant Montalvo.
Sunday: 5:00 p.m. at Flatiron with Brandon Goodman.
SoulCycle unleashes a line up of Pride Rides this weekend at their West Village and Union Square studios with temporary tattoos for all riders. Going to Sunday's Pride Parade? Look for the SoulCycle crew rocking Soul Pride tees and giving away bandanas, tattoos, and free class passes.
Saturday: 1:00 p.m. at West Village with Chad Stringfellow (aka String).
Sunday: 1:00 p.m. at Union Square with Nick Spadaro, 2:30 p.m. at West Village with Nick Spadaro.
