The pandemic has forced kids to spend way more time at home than parents planned in the beginning of the year. And nine months into this reality, it's likely that you're running out of ways to keep them busy. An online cooking class for kids will keep them occupied and teach new skills that will last a lifetime—plus, you might just get a nice meal out of it.

The Children's Food Lab is not your traditional cooking class. In these sessions, young people are empowered to take control of their wellness through food arts and science discovery labs. The students will learn the stories behind the ingredients they eat and use all five senses to explore those ingredients and cook with them. Each class is 90 minutes long and costs $30.

2. Bake Club, Free

Milk Bar founder Christina Tosi takes to her IGTV once a week for Bake Club, a free class intended for families to get messy and creative. The recipes can be found on her website and you can tune into each episode live on IGTV or catch up whenever you have time.

3. Teen & Tiny Chefs Clubs, $25 to $450

Sign up for amazing online cooking classes through Tiny Chefs. Individual classes start at $25. For $50, you'll have a month-long access to on-demand cooking classes, recipes, activities, and more. For $450, you can save on an annual membership that adds new monthly content and includes unlimited cooking classes on Zoom.

4. Home Cooking New York, $40 to $45

Home Cooking New York offers 90-minute virtual cooking classes that are open to kids 10 through 12 to take with a parent, and kids 13 and up to join independently. Join virtual cooking classes that are between 90 and 120 minutes long and cost between $30 and $40. There are various classes for every age range. You can choose a class that suits your child's age, taste, and schedule from this calendar. You can also book private online classes for a special occasion or just because.

6. Food Literacy Center, Free

The Food Literacy Center is a nonprofit dedicated to increasing nutrition knowledge in kids. You can access 12 pre-recorded lessons along with downloads for supply lists, recipes, and worksheets. To help the center continue its work, you can also donate here.

7. Kids Cook Real Food, $19 to $150

Depending on the age of your children, you can find a package that works great for your family through Kids Cook Real Food. The Teach Little Kids Real Kitchen Skills package is for kids aged two to seven and you get unlimited access to four pre-recorded videos and corresponding flashcards for $25. The Kids Cook Solo program is for kids eight and up. It costs $50 for 12 months of access to 15 pre-recorded classes. And the Whole Family package is $150 for 45 downloadable videos. There are individual classes as well, which start at $19.

8. Kids Cooking Green, $28 to $300

Through live Zoom classes with Kids Cooking Green, kids will learn to make everything from Veggie Nori Rolls to Red Velvet Cupcakes. Different classes work for different ages, so check out the offerings. You can sign up for single classes that are around $30, a five-week course that is $300, or private parties for $425. Classes are between one and two hours long.
