1. The Sill Happy Houseplants: Caring For Your Plants, free trial
The Sill, an online plant retailer with brick-and-mortar shops in New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, offers several online gardening classes to choose from. To take a class on Skillshare, you can get two months of Skillshare Premium for free. The Sill also offers live video classes for $10, but its May workshops are currently sold out.
2. MasterClass Gardening, $180
I don’t know about you, but Ron Finnley, aka the Gangsta Gardener, teaches my kind of MasterClass. You’ll learn how to upcycle objects into planters, how to grow herbs, and more. For a $180 annual membership, you’ll have access to over 80 classes on topics ranging from cooking to writing. Each class comes with an in-depth workbook.
3. CREATE A BUTTERFLY GARDEN, Free
If you’d like to see more butterflies in your yard, you’ll want to make sure your garden is inviting and provides what butterflies need to survive. With this garden, in addition to creating something that’s pretty to look at, you’ll also be creating a space that helps to conserve wildlife.
4. SEED STARTING MADE EASY, $20
Instead of buying a plant from the store and planting it in your garden, you can buy the seeds and start them yourself. However, starting seeds is easier said than done. This course from The Gardener’s Workshop will teach you everything you need to know.
This on-demand course from Oregon State University teaches you everything you need to know to successfully plant a vegetable garden. It includes 12 classes on everything from basic botany to sustainable landscaping. (This course is only free for a limited time.)
6. THE CUTTING GARDEN, $99
Having fresh cut flowers around your home can make it feel so warm and inviting. If you’d like to learn how to grow flowers for cutting, this course from Learning With Experts will teach you everything you need to know.
If you’re interested in growing organic veggies like artichokes, kale, and potatoes, this class is the one for you. In two to three hours, you’ll learn best practices for sustainably growing organic produce. The class explains how to maintain a vegetable garden plot, how to make compost, and more.
