So when you are making plans to transplant your life and move to another location, finding manageable home improvements that will help you score some extra cha-ching for your old place is the name of the game. For its just-released 2018 Paint Color Analysis, real estate and rental marketplace Zillow examined more than 135,000 photos of sold homes countrywide to compare how paint colors affected sale prices. It turns out that painting your door black or charcoal grey could really pay off…specifically to the tune of $6,271 more than the expected selling price.

And your front door just so happens to be the easiest place to execute said on-trend “pop.”
According to Home Advisor, the average cost of this paint job is just $100 (and that’s if you outsource the work). Do the math, and that means you could make up to $6,171 more to spend on things like, say, hanging daybeds and Le Creuset’s très chic summer nice cream bowls. Sounds like a win-win, right?
