This Is How To Discover Your Planetary Personality Type

All of us belong to different planets. There are Venusians, Plutonians, and even Martians among us. And I’m not saying that because I hold an extraordinary belief of extraterrestrial life. According to Alexandria Lettman, resident astrologer for The SoulUnity, each of us embody different planetary energies at different magnitudes based on placements and expression in our birth charts. The 10 planet personalities offer a greater understanding of self.

The main determiner of the planetary energy is your chart ruler or ruling planet, the luminary that rules over your rising sign. If you're a Taurus or Libra rising, you are Venusian, ruled by Venus. If you're a Sagittarius rising you are Jupiterian, ruled by Jupiter. That's one easy way of looking at it. However, sometimes there's more than one planetary energy in a chart. This is usually in the case where you have a stellium on your birth chart.

"A stellium can occur when three or more personal planets or angles such as ascendant, descendant, midheaven, or imum coeli, reside under one zodiac sign," says Lettman. "Or it could be when any more than three planets reside in one house. This doesn't include the outer planets, as these are generational planets that don't have a profound effect on our personality. The planetary ruler of the zodiac sign which the stellium is under is the planetary energy that they carry. For example, Scorpio Stellium has Martian/Plutonian energy as these are the planetary rulers of this archetype."

People with a strong stellium might be a cosmic mixture of sorts, belonging to two different planets. "Even if their rising sign is totally different, people with stelliums will radiate the energy of the ruling planet of their Stellium sign alongside their chart ruler planet," Lettman says. "A person with an Aries rising is Martian. If they have three personal planets in Gemini, however, they are also Mercurial."

The 10 planet personalities, according to an astrologer

1. Solarians: Leo risings, Leo stelliums and 5th house stelliums

Like the fiery orb in the sign, solar energy emits and radiates light. This makes Solarians warm, superabundant and natural leaders.

"They tend to do things in excess, but they have an effortless ability to light up the people around them," says Lettman. "Solarians’ life experiences are closely linked to the fueling or breaking down of the ego, the positive or negative consequences of being recognized, and creation."

2. Lunarians: Cancer risings and stelliums and 4th house stelliums

On the flipside, lunar energy receives light. The mirror of Solarians, they're not glowing outward, they care about going inward. They have an emotional depth and connection to their inner world that not many can understand.

"They're very protective over themselves and others because they operate through the tenderness of their inner child," says Lettman. "Life for them is about their changing realizations around satisfying their emotions and inner selves, and allowing others to see their internal world."

3. Mercurials: Gemini risings, Virgo risings, 3rd house stelliums and 6th house stelliums

Mercurials carry expressive energy. This means they're sharp communicators who wield their clever mind to their advantage when dealing with others.

"They’re incredibly versatile, intelligent and have a natural charm about them. They yield that power to either connect with or deceive others," says Lettman. "Mercurials lives are largely centered around the responsibility of authenticity, truthful communication and finding logical ways to tackle challenges."

4. Venusians: Taurus and Libra risings and stelliums, 2nd house and 7th house stelliums)

With the pleasure and beauty-oriented planet as their guide, Venusian energy is attractive and unifying. They have an absolutely magnetizing energy that can turn heads and draw others towards them. They're also, uh, not great with conflict.

"They have a tendency to mask reality and everything that's ugly or displeasing as a way to preserve beauty and harmony in their lives," says Lettman. "For example, not severing old ties even though they've outgrown the bond because they don't want to have difficult conversations. They have a unique ability to bring together polarizing worlds, people and ideas."

5. Martians: Aries rising and stelliums 1st house stelliums

Martian energy separates, and this makes Martians unafraid to go at things alone, or leave people behind if they feel they're being held back. For better or for worse, they're true independents.

"They're born leaders and initiators with a competitive spirit," Lettman. "However, Martians can often come across as self-centered or overly forceful. They're a passionate and dominant force that can be too much for some to handle; however, they are as inspiring as they are intimidating.

6. Jupiterians: Sagittarius rising or stelliums 9th house stelliums

Magnanimous Jupiterian energy affirms and expands. You'll notice that Jupiterians have a larger than life appeal, they're free spirits and very often spiritual.

"They are generous, idealistic, inspired and perhaps not the best in setting personal boundaries or respecting others’ boundaries," says Lettman. "They’re excellent motivators as their expansive and optimistic energy lights up every room they’re in."

7. Saturnians: Capricorn risings and stelliums or 10th house stelliums

The stern energy of Saturn actually rejects. It doesn't mean that Saturnians are unappealing, they just have a hardened exterior.

"They carry authoritative, mature, and wise energy, though their wisdom is generated through the opposition, pain and challenges that they face through life," says Lettman. "They’re mature for their age which is often a manifestation of them having to grow up quickly. They are great boundary setters, highly ambitious and are drawn to structure."

8. Neptunians: Pisces risings and stelliums or 12th house stelliums

Neptunian energy expands (like Jupiter) as well as collects. This makes Neptunians contemplative, greatly detached from the physical realm, and intuitive.

"Neptunians are excited by the unknown and cannot live life at surface level," Lettman says. "They make sense of the world through their hyper-perceptivity, dreams, and abstract thinking. They live between the lines between reality and illusion which causes them to come across as delusional or idealistic.

9. Uranians: Aquarius risings and stelliums or 11th house stelliums

Uranus’ energy is the energy of an innovator. Uranians are known to inspire and includes, leaving no one out of progress. Uranians also search for alternate ways of being and doing things.

"They appreciate the beauty in difference and individuality," says Lettman." They’re very connected to their humanity and to the network of people around them. However, they still instinctively feel a need to change, separate, detach and deviate from anything predictable in order to re-establish themselves elsewhere."

10. Plutonians: Scorpio risings and stelliums or 12th house or 8th house Stelliums

Dark and powerful, Plutonian energy has the power to sever. It's an energy that operates at a deep level, giving Plutonians a natural intensity to their persona that gains strong reactions from people.

"They’re determined and resilient with an incisive mind," Lettman says. "However, their psychological awareness of the depth and darkness of the human experience can generate fears, paranoia, and obsessions that intensifies their troubles."
