Calling It: Lipstick and Sneakers Are the New Twin Set

The twin set might be one of the greatest inventions in fashion history, right up there with the outfit-crowning third piece. Something about perfectly matched pieces is extremely aesthetically satisfying, plus it saves you the trouble of figuring out which leggings match with which sporty top. Even if you're already a pro at incorporating a coordinated set into your activewear and athleisure wardrobe, a new collaboration between MAC and Puma is taking the trend somewhere it's never been before: a lipstick and sneaker set.

The collection will include the Puma suede kicks in three shades that perfectly match three well-known MAC lipstick shades: Lady Danger, a vibrant red; Sin, a deep berry; and Crème D'Nude, a peachy mauve. Unfortunately though, the lipstick-sneaker twin set will not be sold together. And though the lipsticks, retailing at $19, are currently for sale at MAC, the $90 shoes will be available for a limited time only on Puma's website, starting May 17, Vogue reports.

This is just one of many partnerships—including one-off collabs with brands like Hello Kitty and Big Sean—that Puma has rolled out recently to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its now-iconic suede sneaker.

So even if you don't nab a lipstick and sneaker set from this particular collection, the literal head-to-toe combo might prove to be spring's big beauty-athleisure hybrid trend.

While waiting for the release, you can shop Puma's ballet-inspired collaboration with Selena Gomez and pick up a pair of anklet-clad sneakers from the star.
