This 20-Minute Gentle Yoga Flow Is Exactly What Your Burnt Out Body and Brain Have Been Begging For

Deep in the throes of burnout after a year of working nonstop through an unprecedented pandemic, I've begun to lean into doing less. In other words, I'm trying to break my bad habit of engaging in toxic productivity and just let myself live. And in the latest episode of Good Moves, Paris Alexandra, co-founder of BK Yoga Club offers a cue that speaks right to me at this moment in time: "I am worthy of rest," she prompts.

"So often we're moving from the next thing to the next thing and we don't take a moment to slow down," Alexandra says. "And today I'm going to encourage you to slow down and connect with your breath."

The routine she demos in the new video is a "rest and renewal" flow, which means it's both gentle and juicy at the same time. The rejuvenation angle isn't just spin, either. Yoga has been shown to reduce anxiety, depression, stress, and even chronic pain, and can also improve sleep quality.

At present, we not only have a lot to recover from (hello, all of 2020) but also a lot (of fun!) to prepare for as we head into a "shot girl summer." Adding this 20-minute flow into your day or week can help you regenerate your pre-pandemic joie de vivre or, at the very least, survive the superhuman schedule you and just about everyone with a pulse has committed themselves to do these days. Press play, and take a beat to breathe into your muscles and your emotions. You (and I) deserve it.
