Structure-Oriented Saturn Has Plans To Make Your Week Rule-Oriented (but for Your Own Good)

As we kick off August, we do so with the planet of structure and discipline, Saturn, opposite Mercury and the sun. In all honesty, Saturn opposite Mercury and the sun can feel a bit like a cosmic "womp, womp." After all, Saturn is akin to the school principal, the disciplinarian who correlates with consequences. And this can feel jarring amid the fun-loving vibe we crave in the height of summer.

I know it's joyful and playful Leo season, and so many of us just want to be off and free. Yet, with COVID-19 cases of the Delta variant on the rise, and the necessity of masks resurfacing, we can't seem to escape the pandemic or the debate over how to end it. (While masking up in August may feel undesirable, protecting yourself and others remains paramount. This is one example of how Saturn may express himself over the week ahead.)

Couple the influence of Saturn opposite Mercury with the fact that later in the week, Mercury and the sun will square Uranus, the disruptor. With this in mind, it's safe to say the start of August may feel more like a crash landing than an effortless glide. Even so, no matter how difficult things may seem or feel at times, there's a soul-stirring opportunity in the days ahead, too.

The fixed T-square is leading you to a breakthrough: Wherever you may have felt stuck, you'll soon feel ready, if not forced, to make a choice

The sun and Mercury in Leo are opposite Saturn in Aquarius and in a square to Uranus in Taurus, forming a fixed T-square. Inherent in this fixed T-square is this breakthrough: Wherever you may have felt stuck, you'll soon feel ready, if not forced, to make a choice. Pro-tip: Consider what you already know in your bones to be true, and be prepared to fully stand behind yourself, no matter how scary doing so may feel.

You'll also have some planetary help. As the sun and Mercury move through the sign of Leo this week, they highlight, underscore, and amplify 2021's essential lessons:

  1. Remember that this is a year of transition.
  2. This year highlights the distance between who we once were and how we once lived, with who we are becoming, as well as the future we are co-creating.

To that end, Leo season 2021 prominently asks us to choose our future over our past and to have the courage (ahem, Leo) to own our truth proudly.

Here's some additional good news: the moon is waning all week, and it's the perfect time to clear out the old and make space for what's emerging. So come the new moon on August 8th, you'll want to feel ready to set revolutionary intentions for yourself and your life.

The new moon happens Sunday, August 8th at 9:49 a.m., ET. This new moon at 16° of Leo squares Uranus and falls between subsequent full moons in Aquarius. (The last full moon in Aquarius occurred on July 23rd, and the next full moon in Aquarius happens on August 22nd.) The Leo-Aquarius axis asks us to step into leadership and disrupt power dynamics that limit equity and justice for all. Consider this as you focus on your intentions for the upcoming new moon (you want to make sure you have time on your calendar next Sunday, August 8th), set your goals, and commit to them.
