Summer style is all about comfort. While fall and winter call for cute layers and cozy accessories, scorching summer temps and sticky humidity means the breezier, more sweat-reducing the clothing, the better.
Which is why we intend on copping Jennifer Lawrence’s latest look, ASAP. According to The Daily Mail, Lawrence was spotted looking cool and casual running errands in Santa Monica wearing a flowy white babydoll dress and comfy white Nike sneakers. It was a rare sighting for the Hunger Games star who reportedly has been laying low since having her first child with husband, Cooke Maroney, four months ago. Our closets are glad she made an appearance, though, because we’re making her airy white dress and white sneaker combo our new, go-to summer uniform.
Fun thing about babydoll dresses—they can go from effortless to “baby’s first baptism” really fast. Lawrence’s look proved otherwise, swapping scrunchy smocks and oversized ruffles for a breezy silhouette akin to the iconic Hill House Home Nap Dress elevated with just a smidge of detailing in the neckline and sleeves. An otherwise delicate look got an edgy upgrade from the pair of Nikes she laced up on her feet, completing the outfit with a butter yellow gym bag and—arguably a timeless accessory—an iced coffee.
When it comes to summer style, this outfit ticks off all our boxes. For one, it’s white, a heat-friendly color that won’t leave us in a sweaty mess like black or navy. But, it’s also breezy and unrestrictive while still being casual (and comfortable) enough for running our own errands, thanks to the sneakers.
