There's a mountain of evidence that shows daily walks are great for our physical and mental health (for starters: Walking can do wonders for our cardiovascular system, in addition to combatting stress and anxiety). And you know who else shares our collective enthusiasm about walks? Dogs. Specifically, my dogs. I have two very large, anxious pups who require a lot of walking in order for them to burn off some of their energy and panic. That way, they're too tired to eat the couch or the walls (yes, they've done both, and no, I don't want to talk about it).

I've always made sure my dogs have gotten a walk in on a daily basis, but only in the last year have I upped the mileage and intensity—both for myself and the pups. We do approximately three miles a day, at least five days a week (weekends are for parks), and I've strategically mapped out all the hills in my neighborhood to make sure we incorporate some nice incline—all of us are getting a good little glute workout.

Since this is a lot of walking, I've cycled through at least three pairs of sneakers, all either getting really worn down or causing discomfort about a mile in (or both). Lucky for me, I work at a wellness publication, and a fellow editor recommended I try Hokas, specifically the Hoka Bondi 7 ($128) which are epically cushioned, absorbing all the shock from the sidewalk, and making for a smooth stroll.

We've written about Hokas a lot—because they're excellent shoes (in fact, they Bondi 7s have the American Podiatric Medical Association's Seal of Acceptance), especially for those who like to walk a lot. Thanks to their EVA midsole, and memory foam collar that hugs your feet and ankles, these sneaks make you feel ultra supported. They're also lightweight, and have a beveled heel design that personally helps me with balance whenever my dogs decide to lunge after a squirrel (sigh, we're working on it). And those who like to walk and run outside: These are very, very breathable—even in 90-degree Los Angeles weather.

Bondi 7s are great for running long distances, too, although, I haven't tested them out for that. So, if you're a walker and a runner, these were basically made for you.

I've been exclusively wearing Hoka Bondi 7s for four months now, and I'm probably never going to wear another sneaker while walking long distances again. They've made daily dog walking even more enjoyable and comfortable. I've never once experienced any pain during or post-walk, and it doesn't hurt that they come in fun, bright colors. (I got the baby blue "Blue Fog/Blue Glass" colorway.) So far, they've held up really well. No wearing and tearing, although they're a little bit dirty from being used so much.

If my dogs could, I'm sure they'd also give these kicks an 11/10.
