COVID-19 vaccines save lives and allow people to get back to doing what they love, which should be incentive enough to get a shot. United Airlines, however, is sweetening the pot with a lottery of sorts for travel-hungry folks who want to get back on the road (or in the air) again, offering a chance to win free flights just by uploading their vaccination records.
The new sweepstakes is called “Your Shot to Fly,” and it’s awarding roundtrip flights (for 2!) to lucky winners of United’s vaccination lottery every day in June. The tickets are good for any class of service, which means this is your chance to fly first—and for free! The airline will be giving away 30 such prizes.
When that’s over and done, United plans to select five grand-prize winners who will receive a free year of travel for themselves and a companion. The recipients of this award can go anywhere United flies in the world, so long as they’re traveling together. And while the prize doesn’t guarantee unlimited travel, it is good for 26 trips, which is not nothing—you could hit the airport every other week for the next 12 months. Just be sure to enter someone you like enough to spend that much travel time with, or you could be in for a world of misery as there’s no allowance for trading partners.
To enter, you must be 18 years or older and a member of United’s frequent flier program, MileagePlus, which you can join now to qualify. Then, all you need to do is go to the United website or app and upload your vaccination record. (And if the thought of doing so makes you uncomfortable, remember; you probably already shared it to social media, silly!)
This sweepstakes is a great way to kickoff shot girl summer, because the only thing that could make post-vaccination 2021 more exciting than it already promises to be is free airfare to any destination in the world. Grab your vaccination passport and get ready to fly!
