"So many of us are looking to change something in our lives, but that's hard to happen if we don't have a perspective shift," she says. "So today we are going to be actually flipping our entire physical body around to get a different perspective on things."
The flow designed to do this is slow and gentle but should not be underestimated in terms of the (good type of) challenges it poses (literally!) to your body. You'll be moving through heart opening exercises, wrist exercises, chair, half-moon, dolphin, and warrior poses, and more.
Throughout the practice, Ferguson continuously checks in to return you to the intention of this particular flow. "[Take] a moment to check in with the inner dialogue [you've] been having with [yourself], whether consciously or unconsciously," she says. "Just noticing the things that [you've] been affirming about [yourself]—whether it's good or bad—knowing that those thoughts can sometimes become our reality."
After running you through this mind exercise, she then encourages you to flip any negative thoughts while you're flipping your body into various postures. "Just take a moment to acknowledge what you're creating... and just begin to acknowledge what you're choosing," she says. "We can always change it... if the outcome isn't something that we like."
That's never an unwelcome message to receive, and sometimes we need just such a push to remind ourselves that we're in control of many aspects of our lives.
