The One Thing Zosia Mamet’s Been Doing Since She Was a Teen for Clear Skin

Most teenagers turn to harsh spot treatments, toothpaste, or even—gulp—Proactiv to clear their acne. (Hey, everyone makes mistakes.) But not Zosia Mamet. The Girls star and Y7 yoga enthusiast swears that what set her up for an enviably glowing complexion was adding facials to her routine before she hit 20.

"My mom started me on getting facials when I was a teenager, which I think really saved my skin," says Mamet in a recent interview with Byrdie. The treatment's part of her monthly beauty regimen—and she's not afraid to go deep in order to reap all of its dermis-clearing benefits. (Girl knows how to embrace extractions.)

"I'm not someone who wants to go and have someone rub nice-smelling things on my skin. I want them to clean the bad shit out."

"I think of facials like a medical treatment," she explains. "I'm not someone who wants to go and have someone rub nice-smelling things on my skin. I want them to clean the bad shit out and put the good stuff on my skin to help it stay healthy."

Sounds like Mamet doesn't just play a character who's wise beyond her years. Maybe next time you think about popping a pimple, pause and ask yourself: What would Shosh do?

Still not convinced in the power of facials? This is what happened when one writer added them to her beauty routine. And these are the 10 skin-care commandments that facialists swear by.
