When I imagine my dream bedroom setup, it's a soothing oasis of soft, neutral colors, rattan, and plenty of plants. This wouldn't be difficult for me to pull off, except that my track record with having light-colored bedding hasn't been great. I somehow convinced my ex that, yes, we could totally keep a white duvet set clean, only to have my dog throw up on it within days of its arrival...and it was pretty much downhill from there. When we broke up, I moved into a tiny, charming apartment in Venice, California near the beach...and somehow convinced myself that, despite all evidence to the contrary, I was now the kind of person who could keep expensive white bedding clean. (Narrator: she wasn't.) I purchased nice, white sheets that I thought would symbolize a fresh start, but which once again I managed to ruin. Which is how I came to find these $25 Amazon sheets.

See, I had to forbid myself from purchasing expensive bedding until I could prove I could actually not ruin my sheets within a couple of weeks of purchase. I sifted through hundreds of sheet sets trying to find one that was affordable, but still soft and comfy. I landed on the Sweet Home Collection 1500 Supreme Collection Bed Sheet Set ($25) because of the 84k-plus five-star reviews and, probability-wise, it seemed highly unlikely that so many people were unreliable.

The set comes with two pillowcases, a fitted sheet, and a top sheet. They come in all the usual sizes (twin, full, queen, king, California king), plus a split king, and extra deep versions of nearly all aforementioned sizes. The set is also available in over 40 colors. I went for a pretty denim color that looked dark enough to be able to hide stains, without being so dark they took away from my boho aesthetic goals.

When they arrived, I was surprised by how soft they were and that the color was even prettier in person. They have held up well in the washing machine, and are still just as soft. The fitted sheet has elastics on the inside of each corner to help keep it in place, but I didn't have high hopes that they would actually work. Between my dog, boyfriend, and I, one of us always manages to toss and turn enough to unhook one corner of the fitted sheet. But work they did, and now the only time I have to fight with the fitted sheet is when I take it off to wash it, or put it back on afterward.

This is now the part where I tell you to manage your expectations—this sheet set is really really good and I plan to buy multiple, but it's still a sheet set that costs under $30. They are much better than the price tag, but if you buy them expecting a Ritz Carlton sheet experience you're just setting yourself up to be disappointed. Or you're just one of those people who likes to find things to complain about. Otherwise, add yourself to the list of 84K people who are off to dreamland...
