Finding the right mascara is an awful lot like playing the dating apps: You find a lot of options with bad attachment styles (let’s play a little game I like to call “which will last longer, your mascara or your date?”). While I can’t restore your faith in humanity, I can introduce you to the Blinc UltraVolume Tubing Mascara, which slides onto lashes with its inky formula, and just as easily slides right off when it’s time to wash your face before bed.

Blinc UltraVolume Tubing Mascara — $26.00
Blinc equates its UltraVolume formula to “liquid lash extensions,” and we can report it lives up to the lofty promise. The formula is designed to be buildable, so you can swipe on a single coat for a natural look, or keep applying until you’ve got spidery length.
Tubing mascaras, which are called such because they lengthen your lashes by forming a “tube” around each one, sit between water-based and waterproof formulas. They’re meant to come off with warm water alone, but unlike your usual formulas that simply rinse off, when you wash away a tubing mascara, it almost looks like little individual cocoons come off your lash line. Long ago, Blinc made one of the first and best tubing formulas around. It added just enough of a tint to lashes to make them look fuller and more prominent on your face; however, the effect was still super natural.
With its latest launch, Blinc takes things a step further, offering big-time volume with the same ease of use. The formula is meant to make lashes look supremely long and fluttery compared to the original formula, and it succeeds a thousand times over. The brush probably has something to do with it: The puffy, pumped-up bristles really help to coat each individual lash, and the more you wiggle it around, the more volume you get. Once the formula is dry, pretty much nothing but hot water and your fingertips can remove it, so be careful when you try to get the stuff off (seriously, makeup removers won’t work).
The brand says that the formula is made for an active lifestyle and I can attest. I’ve worn it on the sweatiest days and also while watching Hacks, which somehow made me cry, and it stays put without any fallout. But then the magic: When it’s time to wash it off, a five-second face wash—as opposed to a 15-minute ordeal with waterproof formulas—does the trick. There when you want it; down the drain when you don’t. How’s that for a keeper?
