I've spent the majority of my WFH life working from either my bed or my couch, with my laptop perched on a little side table or propped up on my knees. As one might guess, this has not been doing my back any favors—and it started to take its toll, which is how I found myself typing “best desk chair no wheels” into my search engine recently.

But it wasn’t until after I finally built the desk I bought that’d been sitting in the designated office room, unopened in its box, for about a month that my arduous search for the perfect office chair began in earnest. I knew I needed one that wouldn't look overpowering in a small space and would be fine on a carpeted surface, which is why I decided to go the no-wheels route.

Suffice it to say, I scoured the internet for the best desk chairs with no wheels, and these are 12 stylish, comfy ones that reviewers love. Also, check out best office chair for back pain.

The best desk chairs with no wheels

Article, Svelti Dining Chair — $79.00

Available with or without arms, this simple chair is perfect for a small WFH setup. In addition to this on-trend aloe green color, the chair is available in an array of colors like begonia orange, dusty pink, and daisy yellow. If neutral is more your thing, they also come in black and white. Reviewers say the chairs are “modern, sturdy, and very comfortable,” but if you would like extra cushioning, Article also sells these very cute, ethically-sourced sheepskin seat pads.

Fully, Numo Chair — $329.00

Four flex points on the chair—which was designed for people who fidget while they work (it me)—let you gently rock back and forth, and it’s available in five colors and features a wooden or steel base. “Sitting upright, leaning back, sitting on the front edge, and rocking are all pretty comfortable. The felt feet slide easy enough on my hardwood floors, making it easy to change positions and get in and out of the chair,” writes one reviewer.

Hashtag Home, Swank Arm Chair — $110.00

This chair boasts a stellar score of 4.6/5 stars from over 500 reviewers, who say that it is “so comfortable and looks awesome.” Not to mention, it’s easy to put together, and it comes in seven colors ranging from lime green to white.

Urban Outfitters, Remy Faux Leather Arm Chair — $159.00

This faux leather chair would fit in with many different design aesthetics, but it looks particularly good as part of a boho desk setup. “It’s the perfect office chair for my desk and fits my modern boho decor. The chair is very sturdy and super comfy,” writes one reviewer. Another adds that she’s had this chair for two years and it’s still in great condition—plus, she says it gets so many compliments.

South Shore, Annexe Side Chair — $167.00

This chair stands out from the rest thanks to a clear back. Reviewers agree that it’s easy to assemble, sturdy, and “perfect for small spaces.”

AllModern, Bandelier Solid Wood Arm Chair — $410.00

Though this chair is pricey (it’s currently on sale, but originally costs $752), it’s garnered over 400 reviews with rating of 4.8/5 stars. It comes in the brown, as well as the white color pictured, as well and black. Reviewers say it’s a “fantastic,” “well-made,” “elegant” chair that’s even better in person.

Flash Furniture, Elon Series Chair — $53.00

For American style at a lower price point, take a seat in this chair. It’s got over 1,500 ratings on Amazon, with most of them describing it as “easy to put together,” “really comfortable,” and “exceeding their expectations.” Still on the fence? “This chair doesn’t hurt your bum and goes with my desk perfectly,” writes a reviewer. It’s available in peach, gray, green, navy, orange, and white.

The Best Swivel Desk Chairs Without Wheels

Art Leon, Mid Century Modern Swivel Accent Chair — $175.00

Behold: a next-level, upholstered, mid-century modern chair that also swivels a full 360 degrees. It scores high marks among users—75 percent of the 5K reviewers gave it five stars. “I sit all the time to work on it, it’s perfect. Can sit there for such a long time and I feel supported,” says one reviewer. “The wooden legs look much nicer than a normal desk chair with wheels, plus wheels would not work well on carpet,” adds another. Take your pick of 10 different colors.

Laurel Foundry, Chambord Task Chair — $100.00

Complement a modern farmhouse aesthetic with this industrial chair. The height is adjustable, and it has a footrest. “Good quality and I love that there are no wheels. Perfect for a student desk,” writes a reviewer. “High quality, well designed, and easy to assemble and a good value,” adds another.

Carson Carrington, Kallax Swivel Accent Chair — $206.00

One of the themes of the reviews for this diamond-tufted chair is the aesthetics will wow you. One reviewer who “absolutely loves” this chair asks “would you believe it looks even better in person?” Another writes that it is “great as a home office chair.” Users do seem to agree, however, that if you want a big office chair, this is not it.

AllModern, Pardo Side Chair — $177.00

This faux-leather chair comes in both charcoal and caramel. “I wanted stationary legs, comfortable seat, and supportive back,” says one reviewer. “This chair completed all three of my requirements.” Reviewers also report that it is a “great chair for a small apartment desk.”

Kinwell, Swivel Armchair — $160.00

“Bringing a desk into our master bedroom wasn’t my first choice, but when we needed to continue working from home I started searching for something that wouldn’t be an eyesore and would be comfortable for 8–9 hour days,” writes one five-star reviewer. “This chair definitely delivers!” Others agree, adding that it’s “perfect” for a home office and “super easy to assemble.” Choose from neutrals, like cream and coffee, or add a pop of color with a vibrant yellow or green.
