Sonsoles Gonzalez, the brand founder and CEO with 25 years of experience, developed the range after struggling to find solutions for her own aging hair. Not only did she set out to deliver products that address all of the different ways that hair changes over time, but she's also working to shift the narrative around the beauty of aging hair.
"For us at Better Not Younger, it’s about understanding these multi-factorial causes for hair loss and offering solutions for aging hair changes," says Debra Lin, PhD, the Chief Scientific Officer at the company. "Our products are effective because they have been designed to address these different facets on the scalp, hair, and inner health. From nourishing and re-energizing fatigued hair follicles to delivering ingredients with DHT-blocking properties to promoting scalp health and protecting hair from breakage and heat styling, our products address as many factors as possible."
In addition to helping with shedding, Better Not Younger's products also aid in caring for other signs of hair and scalp aging, like dryness, thinning, and even greying. No matter what symptoms you're dealing with (or what the culprit behind them is), scroll through for the products that will help keep hair looking luxurious well into your later years of life.

This award-winning serum is one of the brand’s most popular products and is designed to give the scalp everything it needs to produce healthier hair overall. “This product was designed to soothe and nourish the scalp, energize hair follicles, and support stronger and healthier looking hair and less hair fall,” says Dr. Lin. It achieves this by working in three different ways: By inhibiting the production of hair-thinning DHT (an androgenetic hormone that attacks the follicle, resulting in loss), rebalancing the oils on your scalp, and reversing follicle fatigue to promote new hair growth. According to the brand, repeated use will lead to fuller, thicker-looking hair over the course of only eight weeks.
According to pros, a conditioner is an important step in any routine. “Using a conditioner smooths the hair’s cuticles, adds body, and essential ingredients. It also makes the hair easier to comb when wet which avoids further breakage,” Lucy Chen, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Miami, previously told Well+Good.
Lin suggests this volumizing option (which she says works best when used in tandem with the brand’s Wake Up Call Shampoo) because it “provides body to clean hair without drying out hair strands, and can help decrease hair breakage,” she says. The star ingredients here are nourishing burdock root, strengthening bamboo, DHT-blocking oleanolic acid, and antioxidant-rich hops, the combination of which will moisturize hair without weighing it down.
And what’s more? According to clinical trials conducted by the brand, it has the ability to successfully reduce breakage by up to 95 percent.
For those with thinning hair, supplementing your topical hair-care routine with an ingestible one can help. “If hair tends to be thin, with increased fallout or breakage, using a combination of the Superpower Fortifying Scalp Serum with the Significant Other Hair Supplement would be good to help fortify hair and scalp,” says Dr. Lin. These gummy vitamins are packed with biotin, folic acid, and vitamin A, which serve double duty to add strength and shine to hair while also helping to smooth fine lines in the skin.
Protecting your hair from heat is critical for preventing future damage (particularly when your hair is already weak or brittle), and this softening spray is exactly what you need to get the job done. A blend of vitamin E, avocado oil, and argan oil gives strands some much-needed moisture, which is particularly helpful for women over 40 whose scalps produce less of their own natural oils over time. It defends against heat up to 450 degrees, which means it’s great to use ahead of any hot tools.
A healthy scalp will help create an environment for healthy strands, which is why Dr. Lin recommends treating yours to a weekly “detox” with this deep cleaning shampoo. Charcoal helps to draw out impurities, while alpha-hydroxy acids melt away dead skin cells and help prevent the buildup of dirt, oil, and product debris. “It helps to gently exfoliate and reset the scalp,” says Dr. Lin, which creates an optimal environment for hair to grow from.
