Unless you’ve mastered the art of getting up extra early, mornings tend to be the most crazed part of the day—times 10 if you have kids. According to The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, nearly one-quarter of Americans skip breakfast. It’s an opportunity to provide your body with nutrients you need at the start of the day and after you have gone many hours without any fuel,” registered dietitian Toby Amidor, RD, previously told Well+Good.

If you want your a.m. meal to hold you over until lunch, registered dietitian Melissa Rifkin, RD, says it should include protein, carbs, fiber, and healthy fats. “Protein and fat provide satiety while carbs—ideally complex carbohydrates—provide energy,” she says.
