Classpass’s Newest Offering Is Evidence That Audio Workouts Are the New Frontier of Digital Fitness

Whether you want to be expertly guided through a weight-lifting sesh at the gym, want some tips for maximizing your outdoor run, or are training in your hotel room while on vacay, there are definitely instances when ditching video and having an audio-only workout is more user-friendly and more conducive to living the healthy life. And if ClassPass has anything to do with it, tech-related eye strain and choppy videos due to a poor Wi-Fi connection will no longer be a problem: The company just launched a service that points to audio workouts are the new frontier of digital wellness. And the best part? It doesn't even require a membership.

In a recent press release, the company announced ClassPass Go is officially available for download. The standalone app allows you to choose from a regularly updated library of more than 500 classes, which includes everything from running and yoga to cycling and HIIT. And get this: None of 'em will cost you a cent. "We wanted to create a premium experience that ClassPass users have become accustomed to but that could be experienced in their living room, outdoors, or at the gym. I’m also particularly excited that this offering will be free," Dhaval Chadha, the senior product manager of ClassPass Go, says in the release.

Now, whenever you are, the app can guide you through high-energy classes from top-notch trainers at popular gyms and studios in New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Plus, it's personalized: After you go into the app, you can customize your experience by filtering via your fitness level. You can also pick your tunes of choice from DJ-curated playlists that'll make you feel like you're sweating it out in a boutique studio class.

While ClassPass Go is paving the way for the audio workout trend, there's even more in store for the growing platform. Fritz Lanman, ClassPass CEO, says he has big plans to further expand the company on both the product and membership front. One thing that's seriously fueling its world domination IRL and digitally is a recent $85 million round of series D financing from the Singapore-based investment company Temasek. Now, with a total of $255 million of funding, the next step is launching throughout Southeast Asia and beyond. Clearly, Class is set to stay in session for a long time to come.
