Last summer, TikTok did what it seems to do better than any space on the internet: It took a classic beauty product that's been around for decades and catapulted it into sold-out, modern-day stardom. For months, you couldn't find a tube of Clinique Black Honey lipstick anywhere—everyone wanted to get their hands on the dark blackberry tint that goes on sheer and gives your lips a subtle pop of perfect color. What makes the shade so universally beloved is the fact that the pigment appears slightly different on every person based on their natural lip shade, which means it magically looks good on everyone.

The original formula lives somewhere between a lip tint and lipstick (a beauty product that's so genius it probably deserves its own category), but now, for the first time since its launch in 1971, Black Honey comes in an entirely new form: lip gloss.

Black Honey not your thing? Get the same glossy formula in nine other shades of red and pink.

Buttery and just shiny enough, the Black Honey Pop Plush Creamy Lip Gloss delivers the color you know and love, but now a touch glossier. Formulated with aloe, avocado, shea butter, and hyaluronic acid, the gloss offers all-day hydration. The hourglass-shaped doe foot makes application easy (so easy, in fact, I've applied while stuck in traffic), and unlike a lot of other glosses, this one isn't sticky—it's all gloss without the tackiness. Plus, it doesn't have any of that Limited Too gloss sparkle. The color is pure Black Honey, just shinier.

Since Clinique claims that Black Honey "complements every skin tone,"  even in its lip gloss form, I asked two other W+G staffers to give it a swipe and tell me what they think. Spoiler alert: They were big fans. While we unfortunately couldn't test on a wider variety of skin tones, you can see below how the shade materializes slightly differently for each person.

"I was really worried that the gloss would be too dark for my complexion. But as soon as it touched my lips, the color transformed into this gorgeous rose-y pink, similar to my natural lip color. The formula is super hydrating and creates a much sharper outline of my lips. Plus, it really stays on. The gloss doesn’t transfer that much, so I can go a few hours before needing to reapply." - Taylor Bell, Multiplatform Commerce Producer

“Clinique’s Pop Plush has a top-notch formula that gives my lips a fuller look while offering long-lasting hydration. While the formula is on the stickier side, the figure eight applicator makes putting on the gloss a breeze. I love the high shine finish and Black Honey shade, which complements my skin tone and pulls all of my makeup looks together.” - Kayla Hui, Commerce Writer

And finally, here's me. I'm wearing two quick swipes of Pop Plush gloss in Black Honey. The shade is gorgeous. The texture is rich and smooth. I love it, and now have a tube in every tote I own (along with my original Black Honey lipstick, natch).
