If you feel like the skin-care world moves quickly, that’s because it does. First there was hyaluronic acid, then it was vitamin C , followed by niacinamide, and now, we’re all about peptides. The collagen-boosting skin-care ingredient is popping up in tons of new launches lately, and we’re not complaining. But of all the peptide-powered products that have come on the scene lately, it’s the Cocokind Resurrection Polypeptide Cream that I’ll be reaching for all winter long. The rich, cushiony moisturizer touts skin-plumping, firming, and moisture replenishing benefits—making it the ultimate source of TLC for dry skin this winter. Read on for my full review and why (spoiler alert) I think it belongs in your skin-care routine.

Bonus? It's currently on sale for Black Friday! In fact, swipe anything you want on Cocokind's site for 25 percent off until November 28.

Polypeptides plump and firm

But first, a crash course on peptides. “Peptides are chains of amino acids that make up proteins,” explains Dhaval G. Bhanusali, MD FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist based in NYC. “Given the size, they can penetrate the top layers of the epidermis (the superficial layer of the skin) and can serve as signaling mechanisms for the body—this can include producing collagen,” Dr. Bhanusali explains. The Cocokind Resurrection Cream uses a plant-derived polypeptide (a larger linked peptide chain) to make sure that collagen-boosting signal is heard loud and clear—which is pretty important because our skin loses collagen as we age—so skin feels firmer, has more bounce, and fine lines and wrinkles are visibly diminished.

Resurrection plant extract moisturizes and protects

On top of its glorious mature skin aging benefits, the Resurrection Cream is packed with moisturizing ingredients that kick my winter dryness to the curb—like squalane which helps support your moisture barrier to prevent water loss, antioxidant rich watermelon seed oil, and most importantly, the resurrection plant extract that the cream is named after. “The resurrection plant is naturally found in the desert and can survive up to seven years without water,” shares Cocokind founder Priscilla Tsai. Tsai shares that despite being able to lose up to 95 percent of its moisture content, the plant is “reborn” once watered. In the Resurrection Cream, the extract imparts some of its own resilience to leave skin feeling protected from the effects of moisture-loss, making it a true hydration hero.

The verdict

For my combination skin, I love the Resurrection Polypeptide Cream as a rich nighttime moisturizer. I layer the velvety cream on top of serums as the final step in my nightly ritual, and my skin drinks it up while I sleep. Come morning, my skin feels baby soft—not oily—and looks like I clocked 12 hours as opposed to the actual 5. What’s more, the Resurrection Cream is positively teeming with 5-star reviews by folks from all ends of the skin type spectrum who report equally stellar results.

One Cocokind shopper says the Resurrection Cream helped address her severe skin sensitivity, dryness, and excess oils, “I’ve been using this for about three weeks and my skin is getting better and better,” she wrote in a 5-star review. “This moisturizer is heavy enough to get rid of the dryness but doesn’t make me oily. My skin texture is definitely improving.” We love to see it!

Another reviewer claimed that the Resurrection Cream outperforms its pricier counterparts! “This will be my new go-to moisturizer,” she wrote. “I think it rivals anything I’ve used, including products like La Mer. This is a gem and a game changer for me!” This is music to my ears, because at only $20 bucks, Resurrection Cream is a way more budget-friendly option. And a little goes a very long way (the brand recommends using about a dime-sized amount for your entire face and neck) so a jar will last you a while.
