Peanut butter, strawberries, and now Daily Harvest. “Our mission has always been to take care of food so food can take care of you. That means quality, safety, and transparency are and always will be our top priorities. If you have any French Lentil + Leek Crumbles, please dispose of them and do not eat them,” the statement reads. The vegan-friendly company, which is backed by celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow and Serena Williams, said several customers reported gastrointestinal issues and received notice to discontinue the use of the product immediately.

Daily Harvest also launched an investigation to learn more about the root cause in response to the complaints. “We simultaneously launched an investigation with internal and external experts throughout our supply chain and in accordance with regulatory procedures. We will share more information as soon as it’s available,” Daily Harvest says.

Although the company is taking action to prevent further sickened customers, several people have turned to social media to voice their personal experiences and frustration with their responses. In an Instagram video by @lukewesleypearson, Luke Wesley recounted the two instances he consumed the product. He first experienced extreme stomach and gastrointestinal issues immediately after eating them. The second time, he faced more severe symptoms and hospitalization.

Again, if you have this product in your freezer, dispose of it. Consult a healthcare professional immediately if you believe you may be facing gastrointestinal issues or other symptoms of foodborne illness following consumption. If you have questions or concerns, Daily Harvest encourages you to email them at hello@daily-harvest.com so they can follow up with you directly.
