Its ability to cut styling time in half while also using less damage-inducing heat compared to other styling tools, such as blow dryers and straighteners. “Intense and repetitive heat damages the cuticle and can weaken the hair,” board-certified dermatologist Mona Gohara, MD previously told Well+Good. “Any time one can find an alternative tool source for styling it may be optimal.”
