Fitness It-Girl Taryn Toomey Is Expanding Her Aesthetic Empire With a New MZ Wallace Collab
Taryn Toomey is likely a familiar name to any fitness junkie now: The founder of the ultra-cathartic workout The Class is well on her way to becoming a household name, adored by celebrities, the fashion set, and everyday women alike. But what fewer people might know about lifestyle guru is that she has a passionate side hustle: design. Celebs like Jennifer Aniston have been known to rock her crystal jewelry. And last year, Lululemon tapped her for its first-ever capsule collection collab.
Obviously, Toomey's creativity manifests itself in a variety of ways, but the entrepreneur says they all have one thing in common: “All of those things were things I was living, and I realized other people need them as well,” she says. "I’ve always felt things in my physical body, so I started to explore where these thoughts came from."
Most recently, Toomey's teamed up with accessories brand MZ Wallace to create a dreamy gym bag in a muted millennial pink shade. And just like everything else she's done, her new tote is reflective of things she loves—and was a style she was already carrying.

"We spotted Taryn on Instagram wearing the Metro Tote in early 2016," says MZ Wallace co-founder Lucy Wallace Eustice. And since Eustice and co-founder Monica Zwirner are fans of Toomey's approach to wellness (and social media!), they were thrilled to partner with the fellow #bossbabe on The MZ Wallace Metro Tote x The Class by Taryn Toomey ($215), which launches on January 25 at the accessory brand's stores, Toomey's crystal-inlaid studio, and online. “We have mutual respect for one another,” says Zwirner. “It was truly great to work with another female entrepreneur.”
As you'd expect, the bag has signature Toomey touches—for example, the color is rose quartz, her "favorite stone," and features her go-to mantra. "It just helps to remind yourself of your own presence," she says of the breathing exercise printed on the interior pocket. It reads: Take a moment. Close your eyes. Breathe In. Breathe Out. Proceed.
“I like phrases that have an action point,” Toomey says. “So I chose this one because you can read it and remind yourself of your own presence all day, any day.” Same, Taryn. Same.
