You can usually spy Courtney Paul (AKA Coco) at Barry’s Bootcamp in New York, commanding a no-nonsense, calorie-torching workout. (“Baby girl, don’t park on the treadmill!”) But every morning he also presides over his blender.
“Being a 33-year-old personal trainer and instructor for ten-plus years has taught me the importance of keeping ‘the machine’ in order, which is why I start every morning by blending a shake or juice,” he says.
Here Paul shares his favorite green drink recipe, which (be advised) contains some seriously intriguing ingredients. “It’s guaranteed to fill you up as well as supplement your body with protein, fiber, antioxidants, and a jolt of energy,” he says. 1 handful of fresh spinach
1 handful of frozen blueberries
2 frozen stalks of asparagus
1/2 teaspoon of instant coffee
1 scoop of chocolate or vanilla whey protein
4 raw eggs
1 rounded teaspoon of glutamine
1 tablespoon of flax oil
