Physique 57 to open its first international studio—in Dubai

The white-hot barre studio will open in July with the help of Maryam Fattahi Salaam, a former New York City client.

Physique 57So far, Physique 57 has stuck to acquiring tucking-and-toning fashion-editor devotees in New York and Los Angeles. But its next studio will open halfway around the world—in Dubai.

The studio will open in July in the neighborhood of Jumeirah, with the help of Maryam Fattahi Salaam, a former New York City client, and huge fan of the workout.

Surprisingly, it won’t even be the first barre studio to debut in this booming UAE city, which is famously home to expats and billionaires. It will be competing with Flybarre, which already opened when Flywheel landed in Dubai last year.

To keep a leg up (and pulsing) in the way you’d expect at the current studios, the brand is sending two New York City instructors, Nora Hickman and Neva Cockrell, to run the Dubai studio and spread the Physique gospel. It kind of sounds like the business trip of a lifetime. —Lisa Elaine Held
