Binge-watching Orange Is The New Black while sipping on a blood orange smoothie inspired by the show? Or jamming out to Cher while drinking If I Could Turn Back Lime? They’re just two ideas from Nicole Murphy, whose Tumblr Cloak and Blender is reinventing the smoothie game in a hilariously big way.
The Brooklynite posts recipes inspired by pop culture figures—everyone from Donatella Versace (dubbed “Versachia”) to Game of Thrones‘ Mother of Dragons (AKA “Mother of Dragonfruit”) along with an all-out photo of herself in costume.
Her ideas are a brilliant way to get out of a smoothie rut while showing that coming up with better-for-you meals is supposed to be fun. Pro tip: follow her on Instagram so you know when a new genius recipe has been posted, and keep reading here to see a few faves.

Using blood oranges to anchor this recipe isn’t only clever, it’s full of health benefits. In Murphy’s own witty words: “[It’s] a blend rich in vitamin C, calcium, iron, and fiber—with a dash of Red.”
1 blood orange, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup beets, sliced
1 handful baby spinach
1 handful romaine
1/2 cup raspberries
1/2 lime, squeezed
1/4 cup flax seeds
As Murphy says, “it’s easy being green,” with the perfect leafy green blend. The matcha in this recipe is perfect for a morning when you need a little extra kick getting out the door.
2 handfuls baby spinach
2 Medjool dates (pitted and chopped)
3 or 4 figs
1/2 small cucumber, chopped
1/2 tsp matcha powder
2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 Tbsp chia seeds
Pay homage to the late great photographer with a blend that will get skin glowing and camera-ready.
2 handfuls spinach
1 stalk celery
