In December 2012, Beaming, an organic, vegan, and mostly raw cafe, opened in Del Mar (just outside of San Diego), and quickly became the quiet beach town’s go-to spot for cold-pressed juices, superfood smoothies, and grab-and-go salads.

And the self-proclaimed “foodie” juice bar and cafe is now ready to hit the big city—juice-saturated Los Angeles, that is—with locations opening in Brentwood in late September and Santa Monica in October.

“It’s been very well-received in Del Mar,” Beaming founder Lisa Odenweller says. “We wanted to bring the concept to a bigger city where people really get it. Los Angeles just so fits the lifestyle of the brand.”

Odenweller, a single mom, hopes that the Santa Monica location—the biggest shop to date—will follow in the footsteps of the original and become a destination where kids hang out after school and adults schedule lunch dates and meetings. The Brentwood location will be a smaller, more grab-and-go focused store.

And the food and juice offerings at both will mirror the Del Mar location’s menu, with options like a raw cacao Sexy Mayan smoothie, almond Superfood Brittle, cleanses, and daily salads and soups, with some new additions that Odenweller isn’t quite ready to dish on. (When we tried samples of the juice blends, we were blown away by the interesting ingredient combinations and amazing flavors.)

Everything (except for made-to-order items) will be produced in a central kitchen and shipped out to the three locations each day—but they may have to expand that soon.

“We just signed a lease in La Jolla, and we have Orange County and another location that I can’t discuss in the works,” Odenweller adds. So everyone may be Beaming, soon. —Jamie McKillop
