Jan Marini struggled with acne well into adulthood. She tried product after product, but nothing has worked as well as the items she created during her decades-long tenure at the head of her own namesake skin-care line. She swears by her formulas and knows she has them to thank for her now clear skin.

"I'm a two-time Accutane failure, and now I never break out," Marini shared during a press event. "You can't see my pores. My skin is always completely clear, always flawless. But if I didn't do what I do every single day—every single day—I guarantee you in a few days, a week at the most, I would be breaking out. So what I've been able to do is 100 percent manage my acne."

  • Jan Marini, Jan Marini is the founder of an eponymous skin-care line.

In addition to preventing pimples, her routine helps to reduce signs of aging.

"I was a major sunbather as a teenager and up until I was about 24," says Marini. "I turned 70 in December so I'm always very concerned about wanting to maintain and stave away fine lines and wrinkles."

Marini takes meticulous care of her face, neck, and decollete every day using an impressive arsenal of Jan Marini Skin Research products. The biggest standout from her routine is the one that lets her address aging and acne at the same time: the Jan Marini Age Intervention Duality ($100).

It's a dual-chamber night cream that lets you combine an anti-acne cream with an anti-aging cream. The mixture contains benzoyl peroxide, which zaps away acne-causing bacteria, as well as all-trans-retinol, which speeds up cellular turnover, preventing the dead skin build-up that can contribute to acne while softening fine lines and wrinkles. It's also made with antioxidant-rich green tea extract, which helps to decrease inflammation that can contribute to acne while repairing skin from environmental damage. Antioxidant-packed chrysin, anti-aging peptides, skin-softening N-hydroxysuccinimide, anti-inflammatory alpha-bisabolol, and hydrating hyaluronic acid also work to make this cream great.

Of course, Marini isn't the only one who loves Duality. One Dermstore reviewer wrote "This is the only product that has helped my hormonal acne. I've been using it for about a year now and my skin has never looked better! Definitely a must-have for others who suffer from moderate to severe acne."

Marini doesn't mess around when it comes to the concentrations of active skin-care ingredients in her products, so you may find this to be a bit irritating at first. Ease it into your routine, maybe starting with every other day or every three days, and build up as you can tolerate it. But once you get there, you'll be able to fight acne and signs of aging with a single daily application.
