Of all the improvements you’d like to make in your home—like seriously upgrading your kitchen and adding to your collection of wellness-centric decor—there’s a good chance you’d do just about anything to score a little more closet space. (It’s getting hard enough just to find places to store your sneakers, #amiright?) But exactly how far would you go to extend that square footage?

Well, according to MakeSpace’s just-released online survey of 1,000 men and women in the United States, 49 percent of participants would give up sex for six months in exchange for a bigger closet. But that’s not the only thing people would do for more space: More than 17 percent said they’d take a six-month pay cut for the same reward.

Sure, these results may be shocking, but less so when you consider that 70 percent of participants admitted their bedroom closet is the most cluttered area of their home. Good news, though: Creating space for a better organizational system doesn’t have to come at such a high cost. There are plenty of ways you can make even the tiniest wardrobes seem a little more spacious.

For starters, maximize the space you do have by installing high shelves to store out-of-season items, downsizing your clothing by creating a capsule wardrobe, and selling or donating the items that just don’t spark Marie Kondo levels of joy. After some serious purging and smart organization, you’ll have an area you love without having to compromise your hard-earned salary or your anxiety-alleviating sex life.
