It’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale szn, which means we’re on high alert for the best steals and deals through the end of July. Emphasis on alert. The steepest discounts and the hottest items go quickly, so we’re up early and pouring ourselves some joe to catch the best of them (like these never-on-sale wellness essentials.) After many a cup and too little sleep, we’ve realized our coffeemakers are long overdue for an upgrade.

So we asked two baristas for advice on which one to buy. What should we look for, and which one’s best?

Mary Bleech, a barista at Pronto Caffé and Gelataria in Lexington, Virginia, notes that she prioritizes at-home coffee machines that regulate the temperature of the water as its brewing, as well as a feature that offers easy measurement tracking for both. “Temperature and ratio of grounds to water are key for a good cup,” Bleech explains.

Nic Maloney, a barista based out of Great Harvest Bread Company & Cafe in Burlington, Vermont, agreed. He and his fiancé are currently deciding which brewer to put on their wedding registry—a decision made all the more important by the limited kitchen space in their apartment. High quality is a must, but so is having enough room for everything else.

Between drip coffee brewers, espresso machines, tea kettles, pour overs, portable machines, and pod-based systems, both baristas eyed the same one: the KGBV Select Coffee Brewer from Moccamaster. It’s a steal at 25 percent off, capturing many of their pinpointed variables that make a *perfect* cup.

This Nordstrom-exclusive coffee brewer is "everything you need and nothing you don’t."

Maloney says, “At a glance, the KGBV Select Coffee Brewer from Moccamaster is a great option for your everyday drip coffee. Narrow variables in brew temp and time give you consistency and reliability, without any unnecessary bells and whistles that would drive the price up. It offers a simple user interface, and its minimal components make for easy assembly and clean up. It’s everything you need and nothing you don’t.”

As if I weren’t already sold on it, Bleech chimes in, saying, "From a barista's standpoint, there's nothing more unappealing than a pot of coffee gone cold. Because this brewer automatically maintains the perfect temperature, it ensures you’ll enjoy the promised flavors of your coffee beans to the fullest."

Both baristas pointed out the coffee machine’s independent heating (that keeps your coffee at the ideal temperature for up to two hours!), precise flavor extraction, and quick, quiet brewing also make it a great buy for java lovers.

As for me? I savor my morning cup of joe. I keep my own coffee maker by my bedside because I once saw a tweet that it makes you feel like you’re in a little Italian villa. (It’s true; you’ll never want to go back to the coffee-in-the-kitchen days.) For me, my first mug is my invitation to slow down and be present, or at least to soak in my last, sleepy moments before my workday begins.

As much as I care about the nuances, and as much as I relish hearing about the jam-packed features of the Moccamaster KBGV Select Coffee Brewer, in all honesty: I’m crushing on it because it’s green. That elegant, rich Juniper shade of the Nordstrom-exclusive brewer puts it at the top of my wishlist. The manufacturer’s five year warranty and lifetime repair guarantee don’t hurt either.
