You Won’t Believe the Self-Care #goals This 1950s-Era Princess Achieved Every Morning

If you’ve strived to cultivate a morning routine fit for royalty (or at least one that involves more than haphazardly throwing up your hair into a messy bun and heading out the door), steal some tips from Princess Margaret. The Countess of Snowdon—and little sis of Queen Elizabeth II—had a schedule that’s nothing short of self-care #goals.

An excerpt from the book Ma’am Darling: 99 Glimpses of Princess Margaret revealed that the royal pretty much had the best day ever…like every day. After waking up at 9 a.m. for breakfast in bed, she didn’t move an inch and spent the next two hours in perfect hygge form: cozy under her blankets, listening to the radio and reading the newspaper.

At around 11 a.m., Margaret would spend a stress-free hour in a bath (if only waterproof Kindles were a thing back in the day) before receiving a full hair and makeup treatment at her dressing table and stepping into a freshly cleaned outfit.

The final component of her morning routine spilled into the early afternoon—which kind of encapsulates the type of morning routine I can only dream of: The princess would head downstairs to for a vodka pick-me-up and would join the Queen Mother for a casual four-course lunch featuring a half bottle of wine per person, fruit, and half a dozen different varieties of native and continental cheeses. Holy antioxidants, #amiright?

Sure, it might not be feasible to have a few hours to yourself every morning (a girl can dream, right?), but why not treat yourself like royalty with the time you do have? Take a luxurious bath—even if it’s just 20 minutes!—with some flower petals and essential oils, drink a matcha latte, and do a little yoga. When it comes to self-care, every boss babe should treat herself like a bit of a princess sometimes.

These are the most inspiring celeb morning routines of 2016. And here’s the reason why breakfast should always be part of yours.
