Even if you’ve only seen one episode of HBO’s Euphoria, you know that makeup, particularly eye makeup, is a massive part of the show—it’s practically its own character. Sydney Sweeney nabbed an Emmy nomination for her role as Cassie and her star-turning performance (I have never, ever been happier!”). But she’s also made headlines for her signature look on the show: icy blue eyeshadow and long, bold lashesEuphoria’s makeup artist, Donni Davy, used to apply false eyelashes on Sweeney to give her those full lashes. But in a recent interview with Refinery29, Sweeney explained why her makeup artist stopped needing to use fake lashes on her.

“I saw this TikTok of a girl who uses this eyelash serum, and I ordered it, and my eyelashes started growing like crazy,” said Sweeney. The serum Sweeney swears by? RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum ($34). (Bonus: It's currently 26 percent off!) “I use it every day,” she said. “Everyone has said something. My makeup artist, Melissa Hernadez, was like, ‘Sydney, your eyelashes are longer.’ Then Donni, my makeup artist for Euphoria was like, ‘We don’t even need to put eyelashes on you anymore.’”

RapidLash has amassed a major following over the years, and the serum has over 2,700 five-star reviews on Amazon, with one reviewer raving, “I absolutely love this product. Within a week I could see my lashes were darker and thicker.” Said another reviewer, “I have tried a lot of other serums for my lashes, and nothing compares.” Even W+G's senior commerce editor has been using it for the last two months, and has noted longer, fluffier lashes (and her natural lashes are short and straight).

Most reviewers do note that you need to use it consistently (one time nightly for at least 8 weeks) to see the results; that typically is the key with lash serums. If you aren’t consistent, and skip some days, you just won’t see the same length or fullness. But if you commit and use it regularly, you will likely see an actual, visible difference in your “before” and “after” pictures within two months.

So, how exactly does a lash-lengthening serum like this work?

We reached out to board-certified dermatologist Dr. Lian A. Mack, who uses the product herself, to explain what combination of ingredients make this serum so effective. “RapidLash’s Eyelash Enhancing Serum has become my favorite over-the-counter lash enhancement serum,” explained Dr. Mack. “The innovative formula contains a blend of polypeptides, biotin, Panthenol (a vitamin B5 derivative), amino acids, soybean oil and pumpkin seed extract. These ingredients combined result in longer and healthier lashes.”

And how, exactly, do you apply the serum? “Apply to the upper lid margin (where the lash connects to the skin), starting from the inside out,” advises Dr. Mack. Also, it should be noted that you can use this product even if you already have lash extensions. According to the brand, 88 percent experienced improvement in the appearance of their lashes, and 86 percent noticed an improvement within 8 weeks. (Take these numbers with a grain of salt, because as always, they do come from the brand.) And Dr. Mack attests, “I have tested this product personally, and I had visibly longer and healthier-looking lashes in just over two months.” We're sold.
