It's pretty easy to figure out what makes a "good" concealer. At a minimum, the formula has to conceal (duh), and stay put without caking or creasing. As someone who tests beauty products for a living, I've come across many of these "good" concealers over the years. But I've never met one that's truly great until Saie Hydrabeam ($26) entered the chat.

The just-launched formula is just as much skin care as it is makeup, and goes above and beyond what you'd expect from your standard concealer. Thanks to hydrating squalane and glycerin, it leaves behind a dewy, your-skin-but-better finish. It draws on a slew of other actives that you may recognize from your standard facial serums—tomato extract for brightening, plumping, and evening skin tone; cucumber extract for soothing and de-puffing; licorice root extract, elderberry fruit extract, and rice starch for blurring and smoothing—to deliver benefits that stick around long after your wash your face. In a study conducted by the brand on 33 women aged 18 to 45, 91 percent agreed that Hydrabeam brightened, illuminated, hydrated, and moisturized the undereye area over time, and 84 percent agreed that Hydrabeam blurred the imperfections around the eye area over time.

The concealer's brightening properties (both in the short and long term), are particularly helpful for masking dark under-eye circles—but I've had great success using it all over my face. It looks sheer when you apply it, but its pigments offer enough coverage to diminish the appearance of acne scars, blemishes, and discoloration. Plus, it can double as a highlighter, helping to add light to the high points of your face without any sparkle or shimmer. It comes in nine shades, all of which are perfect for creating a seamless "no-makeup makeup" look whether you're wearing them on their own or pairing them with other complexion products.

The applicator is small and pointed—almost like a cone—which allows for precise, targeted application. I like to dab five dots under my eyes and blend with my fingers, which is plenty of product to make me look instantly more awake. When it comes to blemishes and dark spots, I usually need to dab on a few layers of product (keep in mind that the coverage is somewhere between light and medium), but no matter how much I put on it never looks thick or unnatural. It melts seamlessly into the skin, and doesn't have any of the usual goopiness or caking that's usually associated with piling on concealer. Check it out, sans filter—and keep in mind that these photos were taken five minutes apart with the exact same lighting. Magic, right?

Though the product is brand new, it's already earned a hefty number of positive reviews from people who love it just as much as I do.  "Best under eye concealer ever! Super hydrating and brightening, with amazing coverage. Highly recommend!" writes one user. "Love love loveeee the consistency of this concealer. It felt super whipped and creamy. Incredibly easy to blend and super natural. I'm a 'no makeup, makeup' kind of gal so this fit into my routine perfectly. I highly recommend," agrees another.

Saie Highbeam is truly a one-and-done product that can make you look more awake and even-complected in a matter of seconds. This "concealer of the future" (as the brand likes to call it) is truly great—so much so that it's officially dethroned all of the other "good" concealers in my collection.
