I’ve been to a lot of concerts in my life—like, a lot. But I’ve never worn earplugs to one until recently, when I saw Beyoncé live during her Cowboy Carter era (yes, it was every bit as iconic as you’d imagine). Normally, I’m that person screaming the lyrics, jumping in heels, and leaving with that post-show buzz that lives in your body for hours. But this time, I also left with something else: my hearing intact.

When I was younger, I had constant ear infections. The kind where every time my mom would take one of my siblings to the doctor, she'd have him check my eyes—just in case—and lo and behold: ear infection. I never got tubes, but it was definitely on the table—and as an adult, I’ve noticed I already have a little hearing loss compared to my peers. It’s subtle now, but hearing damage is cumulative and irreversible. I know that if I don’t start protecting it now, I’ll regret it later, which is why I wore Loop Earplugs—here's my experience.

What are Loop Earplugs?

Before you roll your eyes: These aren’t those neon foam plugs you buy at a gas station. Loop Experience 2 Earplugs are sleek, reusable, and designed specifically for live music events, clubs, and other loud environments. They reduce noise by about 17 decibels without distorting sound, so you still get the full experience—just at a safer, more comfortable volume.

I wore the silver pair (to match my outfit, obviously) and popped them in as soon as Bey started singing AMERIICAN REQUIEM. Within minutes, I forgot they were even in. The deep bass didn’t rattle my brain, the vocals came through clearly, and I could still chat with my friend in between songs. Most importantly, I didn’t wake up the next day with that telltale ringing in my ears that usually lasts for hours (if not days).

We wear sunscreen to protect our skin. We wear blue-light glasses to protect our eyes. So why aren’t more of us doing something—anything—to protect our ears?

Wearing earplugs to concerts used to feel kind of dorky. But now? It feels like a power move. And honestly, they look chic. Loop’s ergonomic design sits comfortably in the ear without sticking out, and they come in a variety of colors to match your vibe. They also come with different sizing options, so you get a snug fit that actually stays in place while you dance, jump, or scream your heart out.

If you love live music—or find yourself in any loud setting on the regular—Loop Experience Earplugs are 100% worth it. They’re stylish, reusable, and easy to keep in your bag just in case. Whether you’ve had ear issues like I have or just want to avoid future damage, protecting your hearing is one of those wellness habits that will seriously pay off over time.

Because what’s better than seeing Beyoncé live? Being able to actually hear your friends talk about it the next day.
