There’s a pair of gym shorts I have in every single color, and I’m about to buy more. The Vuori Halo Performance Short has been my summer wardrobe staple, but it’s a worthy contender for early autumn if you like to exercise and sleep in a pair of shorts (maybe not in that order—although they are moisture-wicking, and I’ll get to that in a second). While bike shorts have earned their moment in the sun, I’d like to make a case for the breezy drawstring short that you can wear to bed and then straight to your workout class or morning run.

Vuori Halo Performance Shorts — $56.00
Made from a soft and stretchy fabric, these gym shorts can easily double as sleepwear. They’re just that comfortable. They’re available in sizes XXS to XXL and you can scoop ’em up in black, grey, light pink, and white.
After spending most of winter and early spring in Vuori’s Rib Studio Legging and Performance Jogger, I switched gears and bought a couple pairs of their gym shorts. Vuori, which you may have seen in ads for all over your Instagram feed, specializes in outdoor and loungewear made of materials so soft, you’ll almost forget you’re wearing anything at all. Their Halo Performance Short is no exception: Made of a lightweight recycled polyester-elastane blend, these shorts are designed to wick away sweat so that you keep cool, dry, and fresh. They’re also quick to dry, so if you do work up a sweat, these shorts will likely be dry by the time you get home. And with a hidden zip pocket, you can carry your phone or keys on you if you need.
What I love most is that they can double as sleep shorts, thanks to incredibly soft construction and material. While they’re super stretchy (and offer an elastic drawstring waist for extra comfort), they don’t necessarily feel like your standard sporty short. And as much as I love my bike shorts, I can’t sleep in them—they’re too tight, and I need something more flowy to be able to get comfortable. As for actual performance goes (they are the Performance Short, after all), I’ve found that the fit supports me equally well while jogging, cycling, and weight training. One thing to note is that these shorts don’t include a liner like some athletic shorts do for coverage.
Vuori claims that they’re “the world’s comfiest performance shorts,” and they’re probably not wrong. What they should also add is that they might just be the world’s most versatile shorts, too.
