First comes giraffe, then comes flamingo—then comes Brooklyn? Sounds about right if you're Sky Ting Yoga. The chic, animal-adorned, downtown Manhattan studio just announced plans to open its third location—and this time it’s heading across the East River to the Domino Sugar Factory on Williamsburg's waterfront.

Sky Ting’s founders, Chloe Kernaghan and Krissy Jones, have confirmed that the studio is “signed and ready to go” inside the sought-after 325 Kent Avenue building, and that the space will open in early 2018. (Other buzzy tenants coming to the high-profile development, still under construction, include craft-beer hub Mekelburg’s and a new restaurant from Michelin Star chef Missy Robbins who's best known for the beloved Italian restaurant Lilia nearby.)

"We both used to live in Williamsburg, so when we found the Kent space, it felt like we were coming home."

Details are still scant—no word yet on how many mats will fit in the space, how many classes per day to expect, or whether there will be a please-stay-a-while lounge to greet eager yogis like at the flamingo-helmed TriBeCa location. But Kernaghan and Jones assure Sky Ting devotees that the Brooklyn studio will have that same clean, dreamy, airy vibe they’re used to.

“We’re very specific about the spaces we choose to be in,”Kernaghan says. “We need a lot of natural light and high ceilings, and we love raw spaces that we can design and create the Ting feel. We were lucky to be brought into the 325 Kent building early so we can be part of the design process and really bring our vision to life.”

And there’s a reason Kernaghan and Jones want the studio to feel like home—because for them, it kind of is. “We both used to live in Williamsburg, so when we found the Kent space, it felt like we were coming home,” shares Jones. “Our studios in the city are doing well, and we love the communities we’ve cultivated in Chinatown and TriBeCa, but we’re really excited to get to know a larger community in a completely different part of the city." (Sky Ting opened its OG Chinatown studio in July 2015, followed by the TriBeCa location last November.)

The new space will join an area that’s already a burgeoning fitness hotspot: Equinox Williamsburg, Brooklyn CrossFit, East River Pilates, The Living Room, Moto Yoga, Loom Yoga, Y7, Modo Yoga, Kula Yoga Project, and a handful more are all within a few blocks of 325 Kent. (So expect plenty of Lululemon-clad, mat-carrying yogis convening after class at the Whole Foods around the corner.)

As for Brooklyn’s spirit animal? TBD.
