Sol de Janeiro launched its iconic Brazilian Bum Bum Cream ($22) in 2016, and I’ve been a loyal fan ever since. I can vividly remember the day I received the summery lotion in the mail, packaged in its bright gold jar that wafted in the most delicious aroma—a mixture of pistachio, salted caramel, and vanilla; a fragrance that quickly became my scent of summer. Since then, Sol de Janeiro has expanded further into skin care, as well as into hair care, makeup, and fragrance. As much I love the original Bum Bum Cream and its fellow inaugural products, none of the brand’s launches excite me quite as much as the Beija Flor Elasti-Cream ($22), which hit shelves earlier this year.

Sol de Janeiro, Beija Flor Elasti-Cream — $22.00

Key ingredients include plant collagen, vegan squalane, and cacay oil. Also available in a 240 ml jar ($48).

Housed in a bubblegum-pink jar, Beija Flor Elasti-Cream is the same creamy consistency as the original Bum Bum Cream that drenches skin in decadent hydration. Only instead of being formulated to firm and tighten skin like the Bum Bum Cream does, it’s designed to deliver radiant, bouncy skin that looks as fresh as a baby's bottom. Since its hero ingredient is a vegan collagen—an essential protein that keeps skin healthy and elasticized—it puts the pep in skin's step all over your body, plumping up even the most tired, crepey areas.

Although many dermatologists say that simply applying collagen-infused products isn’t enough to reverse the appearance of aging skin, Sol de Janeiro conducted a third party panel study of 100 consumers who concluded that their skin felt, "significantly softer, more resilient to signs of aging, and appears to have better elasticity with renewed bounce after two weeks of use."

I can attest! Immediately after applying the Beija Flor Collagen Cream (which is also blended with hydrating squalane, a humectant, and cacay oil, a popular retinol alternative), my skin looked smooth, deeply hydrated, and nothing short of glowing—hence why I now make it an essential post-shower skincare step.

Beyond its skin-boosting benefits, though, this cream smells heavenly—it’s my number one reason for loving it so much. It's described on the website as having a, “bright fresh floral scent,” with hints of pink dragonfruit, lychee essence, Brazilian jasmine, and vanilla. But if you ask me, it’s nearly identical to Snif’s fan-favorite Sweet Ash perfume ($65)—one of my all-time favorites, when I can add it to my cart before it sells out—which features earthy notes of juniper, bergamot, tonka, vanilla bean, and patchouli.

Needless to say, it’s a unique scent that’s difficult to pin down. One thing’s for sure, though: it instantly turns heads. I’ve earned so many compliments on how I smell after slathering myself in this cream from head to toe. Luckily for me (and all the other SDJ lovers out there), the scent became so popular so quickly that it’s now available in a perfume mist—Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 68 Beija Flor Perfume Mist ($20). Though why not smell amazing and feel amazing, too?

If bouncier, fresher looking skin is on your wish-list, this baby-smooth lotion is worth the hype. My only regret? Not buying the jumbo, 240 ml jar of Beija Flor collagen cream ($48) to hold me over all summer long.
