In the market for a yoga mat? No matter your budget or your preferences, Amazon has some standout options with killer reviews. The best of the best have tens of thousands of reviews, a rainbow of colors to choose from, and at least a quarter inch of cushion to keep you comfortable during your Downward Dogs. We sifted through hundreds of available yoga mats, basically studied and annotated the reviews, and used some of our own expertise to bring you the top five best-of-the-best mats you can get from Amazon dot com. And the beauty of Prime means you'll get your mat delivered in a day or two. Score.
A true pro favorite, the Manduka PRO is like the Maserati of yoga mats. Maybe Mercedes is a better metaphor, since these are made in Germany, but you get the picture. And they’re built to last a lifetime — Manduka’s mats come with a lifetime warranty when you buy them from Amazon (or directly from Manduka). That’s a pretty big deal. So even though this is over $100, you’ll probably never have to replace it.
Is there anything that says ‘best of Amazon’ more than a top rated Amazon Basic? This super thick (½ inch is roughly 12.5mm, which is more than double some of the thicker ones on the market) is actually neck in neck with the best budget option at $20. To boot, it comes in seven colors, has 50,000 (!!) reviews with a nearly 5-star rating, comes with a strap, and (thanks to the thickness) is great for sensitive knees and joints. It’s also the longest option at 74”, making it an ideal choice for taller yogis.
Gaiam is one of the most trusted names in yoga, especially if you’re on a budget. At under $25, 12,000 reviews and a 4.5-star rating, you can’t really go wrong. There are a plethora of colors, and it comes with a strap so you can carry it with you to class. At a quarter-inch thick, it’s a pretty standard amount of cushion, and it’s lightweight enough to travel.
The one that looks most like the $100 ultra-trendy alo yoga mat (that is not on amazon) for less than one third of the price? This eco-friendly, chic mat from Gruper. The pink/navy combo is reminiscent of alo’s smokey quartz colorway, and there are three more colors to choose from beyond that. Glowing reviews bedeck the 7,000 ratings, with “buy this” being a frequently used term from happy yogis.
While this might not last you a lifetime, it’s just north of $15, with 35,000 reviews and a nearly five star rating. Though recent reviews are mixed, you’ll enjoy the hilarious “please come back becky” top rated review while you do your online shopping. It’s a quarter inch thick, comes in seven different solid colors, and looks to be a great entry-level piece when you’re on a budget.
