How Bey and Jay Prove the Couple That’s Creative Together, Stays Together

There are power couples and then there's Beyoncé and Jay-Z: the unofficial first family of American culture. Though it would be easy to hoist them onto a celebrity pedestal of immortality, the musical duo has shown—via SoulCycle devotion and mutual love for kale—they go through (and sweat through) some pretty common, everyday stuff.

And that relatability extends to their relationship, too. In lyrics on her latest album, Lemonade, and his, 4:44, Bey and Jay have creatively aired their not-so-glamorous spousal tribulations—namely, infidelity. In a recent interview with The New York Times, Jay-Z revealed that therapy helped repair their marriage.

"We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together," Jay-Z said of working through marital issues with Beyoncé.

"The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then having to deal with yourself," the Grammy-winning artist explained, adding that his own personal therapy in tandem with their cathartic creative processes helped their marriage survive.

Jay also said that he and Beyoncé were working together on an album, which also helped them keep their relationship afloat. "We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together," he said.

I, for one, am glad to see the couple is still together (it's been a rough year for celebrity divorces) and will be waiting with baited breath along with the rest of the Beyhive (the entire world, really) for updates about the possible joint-album release.

Obsessed with the power couple? Here's how you can eat and work out like Beyoncé.
