And that relatability extends to their relationship, too. In lyrics on her latest album, Lemonade, and his, 4:44, Bey and Jay have creatively aired their not-so-glamorous spousal tribulations—namely, infidelity. In a recent interview with The New York Times, Jay-Z revealed that therapy helped repair their marriage.
“We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together,” Jay-Z said of working through marital issues with Beyoncé.
“The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then having to deal with yourself,” the Grammy-winning artist explained, adding that his own personal therapy in tandem with their cathartic creative processes helped their marriage survive.
Jay also said that he and Beyoncé were working together on an album, which also helped them keep their relationship afloat. “We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together,” he said.
I, for one, am glad to see the couple is still together (it’s been a rough year for celebrity divorces) and will be waiting with baited breath along with the rest of the Beyhive (the entire world, really) for updates about the possible joint-album release.
