Athena Calderone doesn’t want you to just go make her green smoothie. She wants you to feel inspired while you make it.
Calderone, an interior designer who’s recently worked on projects like the Rebecca Minkoff showroom, devotes most of her time to her blog, Eye Swoon—where she writes about, and posts photos of, beet tarts, pretty floral arrangements, and local farms. (As you can see from her smoothie shot, she’s got a killer eye.)
“I really like to create beauty, whether it’s in a room, or how I dress, or a plate of food, finding the beauty and making things unique,” Calderone says.
And her own projects are meant to spark that same creativity in you. “I love that I can inspire a journey in other people,” she says. “More than expecting people to follow a recipe exactly, I love the idea of others putting their own stamp on something I feature.”
That includes her go-to green smoothie, which she makes with veggies from farmers markets in the city (Brooklyn) and country (Amagansett).
Follow her lead with the recipe, below—and also by not hesitating to mix and match with whatever colorful bounty catches your eye this week. —Molly Gallagher
