At Well+Good, we’re constantly coming across genius recipes—whether it’s on Instagram, in soon-to-be published cookbooks, or directly from buzzy food bloggers themselves. And we’re sharing, by spotlighting the most awesome recipe we’ve come across each week. Ready to get cooking? Check out this week’s pick, below!

Orange wine and avocado margaritas may be nearing the end of their season, but that doesn’t mean healthy cocktail options go out the window as soon as summer hits the rearview. Looking for a new star to cast in your healthy cocktail glass? Activated charcoal is ready to play the lead.

And your body will thank you. (Toxins? Not so much.) Basically, the it-ingredient—yes, even Kim Kardashian is a fan—works as a magnet for all the not-so-great stuff in your digestive track. And since the adsorptive ingredient has such powerful benefits, it’s no surprise that it’s popping up in juice bottles. But sipping on activated charcoal doesn’t have to be restricted to the virgin stuff.

New York City hotspot Beauty & Essex concocted a new cocktail that lets you get a buzz from, well, the buzzy detoxifier. If you’re going to reach for a mixed drink, you might as well have it with a purifying de-bloater. The big question is, does the activated charcoal help cancel out the effects of alcohol on the body? Because that’d be a genius way to stop hangovers in their tracks….

Ready to shake things up? Try Beauty & Essex’s activated charcoal cocktail recipe.
