It’s impossible to walk into a boutique fitness studio without eyeing a print or splash of bright color—whether it’s a shot of cobalt or a colorful prism pattern.

But Crane & Lion, a new fitness fashion brand, is about to make a mark in a sea of prints—without being flashy. The Boston-based brand, which launched last week, is all about a color palette of soft grays and purples, subtle color-blocking details, and hints of mesh.

Kim Ortengren, the Crane & Lion’s director of design and production used to be on the design team at Donna Karan, which is evident in some pieces like the super chic and versatile wrap sweater.

“We wanted a collection that offered a cleaner, more sophisticated look that not only coincided with the fashion market but could enhance every woman’s wardrobe,” says Ortengren. “These pieces can be seamless additions to every woman’s closet as well as transition from the early morning workout to dinner with friends.”

And who knows, given our current splashy, studio style moment, it could be a pair of neutral-colored capris that makes you stand out in barre class. —Molly Gallagher
