From breakage to thin tresses to major shedding, we've all got our hair-care struggles. And even though it might not actually fix the bad-hair-day situation on your head, knowing other gals are dealing with the same things makes the struggle a teeny bit easier (solidarity, am I right?).

So if you've ever felt panicked after seeing clumps of hair in the shower drain or on a brush and frantically Googled "how to prevent thinning hair" for help, don't worry—you’re def not alone.

More than 40 percent of respondents reported feeling like they lose hair at an above-average rate.

In fact, over 2,600 other Well+Good readers (who responded to the survey we put together with Thicker Fuller Hair®—a 100 percent vegan, ingredient-conscious hair-care regimen that helps boost scalp health while strengthening hair) have had similar mane-related mini dramas.

Check this out: More than 40 percent of respondents reported feeling like they lose hair at an above-average rate—i.e. there are a lot of people Googling the same questions you are.

Here's what the numbers said

In the survey, nearly 80 percent of respondents (over 2,000 people) said they believe non-age-related hair loss among women is common or very common, and it shows by how they classify their hair.

More than half of respondents described their hair as average, thin, and really thin, while only a third would describe their tresses as thick or super thick, with several of those who fell in the thick-haired camp noting that their hair used to be even thicker.

And that scenario where you feel like you're constantly cleaning hair out of your shower drain? Lots of W+G readers are in the same boat, with 75 percent of respondents saying they notice lost hair most in the shower.

However, the cause of said hair loss is up for debate. Over 50 percent of respondents attributed their non-stop shedding to stress, while other popular causes were hormonal imbalance, diet changes, genetics, and pregnancy, in that order.

Here's what W+G readers are doing about it

No matter the cause, fortunately there are simple ways to achieve lusher locks a la Daenerys Targaryen’s untouchable waves—it just requires a bit of a shower-routine revamp.

Although almost everyone who took the survey said losing hair is something they notice (only three percent of respondents said they don't notice it), only about 22 percent of people said they're using products to help with thinning hair.

Bottom line: In order to achieve the luscious locks you're after, you have to take care of your scalp like you take care of your face. That's why Thicker Fuller Hair® tapped into the expertise of an Ayurvedic chemist and trichologist to create its Nourishing Daily Scalp Tonic, which delivers nutrients straight to the scalp, and its full four-step routine, which gives thinning tresses a boost for fuller-looking hair.

Those who were working on making their manes look fuller concur—thickening shampoos and conditioners, DIY hair treatments, and oral supplements like biotin (which is found in Thicker Fuller Hair®'s formula) were popular methods for addressing the issue.

While you’re bound to still have an occasional bedhead situation that just won't quit (sorry, it’s just life), opting for science-backed hair-care products can help alleviate your minor freak-outs over locks lost—as they work their magic to make your hair look more voluminous.
