In what has become an annual reading-of-the-tea-leaves that's been pretty darn accurate (the magnesium craze was predicted back in 2016, and hotels obsessing over wellness was spotted as a major thing way back in 2014), Well+Good announced its Wellness Trends for 2018 last week—giving a sneak peek for the first time, pre-publication, to a select group of heathy-living insiders at its New York City headquarters.

Influencers and insiders got a four-day head start before today's publication of the 2018 Wellness Trends (and were sworn to secrecy, of course) to sip on tasty Tropicana juices and nibble on turmeric muffins and other healthy treats from Woldy Kusina—and get their Insta day off to a great start with our Boomerang photo booth—while being the very first hear what's to come.

"Our editors think about [what should make our Trends list] all year long, working toward this moment," said Well+Good co-founder and chief content officer Melisse Gelula. (Check out all 18 of the 2018 trends here.)

And as you may expect, there are all kinds of cool innovations, products, ideas, and services launching in the next 12 months, but you'll know you saw the biggest wellness trends for 2018 here, first.

So, which Trends got party guests buzzing the most? Amid the furious typing as they were revealed, these 5 drew the most oohs and ahhs.

1. Activewear shows its softer side

“Call it the Taryn effect,” Plosser says of the getting-hygge-with-it fashion trend, which favors pretty neutrals that fitness phenom Taryn Toomey wears (and are featured in her collab with Lululemon). Athleta got a super-early jump on this look with its Restore collection, a majorly buzzy example of the white-hot category for 2018.

2. Pet food gets a healthy makeover

"Soon, you and your pet will have more similar eating habits than ever before," Hanafy says of the trend, which "says no to mystery meat and yes to organic." What else will be big next year? Supplements for your four-legged BFF, and even meal-delivery services.

3. Analog destinations to unplug are the new *it* spots

Getting away from it all definitely now includes your inbox, your social media, and maybe your phone entirely. "One hotel in Germany has even installed copper between the walls to block WiFi signals," says Plosser, who assured the crowd that, yes, even their boss' emails couldn't get through. "Sorry, Melisse!"

4. Skin care that protects you from the tech world and pollution

"Every day, your skin goes to battle with pollution in the environment, UV rays, and even blue light from laptops," Hanafy says. "These [products] are like natural armor...Next year, your skin will be more protected than ever before."

5. Home decor goes woo woo

"We’ve seen the future of home decor, and it’s illuminated by salt lamps, warmed by faux sheep-skin rugs, and smells like palo santo," Plosser says. In other words, this is the year to make stylish chillout vibes in every room of your place a reality.
