Highlighter has been one of the buzziest beauty products for a while now. Using a simple slight of hand, the multitasking MVP can make your bone structure stand out, your tired skin look (somehow) awake, and your entire complexion glow. In other words, it’s a way to look perennially refreshed, even when your busy lifestyle says otherwise. Consider it a yoga session, eight hours of sleep, and a mindful meditation finely milled into one glowy powder.
But it’s harder than it looks to find the perfect formula. It should be gleamy (but not glittery); it should have an undertone (that disappears until it’s hit with light); it should work with your skin (without falling into crevices or lines). And that’s why I was shocked when I swatched on Rituel de Fille Celestial Sphere Eye Soots, $38 (yes, it’s actually eye soot) to find that somehow this eye shadow was so multidimensional that it ticked every one of my highlighter requirements.
Available in a trio of colors—Ara, an iridescent red rose, Lyra, a violet-and-gold tinged white hue, and Pyxis, a shimmering aqua—the Rituel de Fille Celestial Sphere Eye Soots are, of course, beautiful when applied onto eyelids. But the thing is, all three shades have such depth and dimension they’re worth trying out as holographic highlighters to bring veritable 3D dimension to your complexion as well. (Kinda like skin glazing on steroids, yeah?)
Although the idea of using something iridescent on eyes and cheeks may feel like a bit much, the soot’s pigmentation is so strong that you only need the tiniest dab for each spot to bring a majorly refreshing glow. After all, the holidays are a magical time, but they can leave you feeling (but never looking) wiped.
